Here are some photos from the demo day held today taken by Jason Barlow.
His blog is here: http://jasonbarlowartist.wordpress.com/
These are looking stunning.
Very pleased I am backing this Kickstarter now.
Edit - ohh my lord.. I thought that was the warrior compared to infant aliens.. NOPE.. that is an infant compared to the stalkers.. that means the warrior is much bigger. ohhhh. Defnitely glad I backed this now. One to get for sure!

Well, been a while since I did an update.
So here goes.
AVP.. that classic PC game, Comic and fan fiction genre. Always loved by many a sci-fi geek or 80's child who was scared shed-less by the black xenomorph.
Well it seems Prodos have the right from Fox and are nearing the end of their Kickstarter.
Only 5 days to go!
So here are some links.

So, it basically comes in two flavours the game.
A space hulk style board game and a Miniatures Wargame.
The Kickstarter miniatures will be uniques, as once this goes into production, they will be different poses and in basic plastic. Not the polyeurathene resin that the KS will be.
Currently the project is way past its funding levels and doing quite well.
Hopefully a last 48hour surge will strike, as per usual and the project will get to unlock the queen.
But fear not, even if it is not unlocked, Prodos have said already, it will be released in the future.
The box sets are nice. And I have had personal assurance the card stock is the same quality and thickness as the Third Edition Spacehulk, which frankly was quite lovely.
So do have a good look at the write up of the demo day on Jason Barlow's blog linked above.
And if it is your cup of tea, why not give it some support. I can already see this Ltd Edition sets making several hundred on evil bay and other auction sites once the KS is over! The figures will also make silly prices, as the later ones will be plastics.
Personally I will be hanging on to mine, as its always a great game and one I think every kid in the world who has seen the film would love to have a go at, at some stage!
Smart guns ahoy!! If it bleeds, we can kill it!
Oh and I should also say,, wow.. proper Predator Figures! I mean, no look alikes here. These are all licensed by FOX films. So are going to be stunning.
Oh and there is a lot more to come!

Club Gaming Weekend - 24th and 25th Sept 2011 - Spacehulking
Firstly apologies for the delay in progress on my other projects. One excuse has been the prep for a club weekend gaming session. Our gaming club is very fortunate to have access to a large hall where why usually run our annual gaming show "Gauntlet".
And a few weeks ago a few club members mentioned, wanting a weekend to run larger games that ordinarily couldn't get run in a club night. So we booked the hall and I sorted the tables and whalla. A two day gaming session was at hand.
I decided for ease and with a lack of time etc to run a game of my Spacehulk 3rd Edition the RGP I have been working on. So with four willing victims, sorry players. Two of my own sets of space hulk and one on loan. I built up a three level space hulk.
Each player had a single squad of five terminators. Their mission was to recover the CAT from where it had become stranded on the third level as its datacore contained vital mission data.
Each level contained a "nest", which as a secondary objective the marines were tasked with retrieving a bio sample from. Not an easy task.
Each squad contained one character, and four marines. Either a captain, an inquisitor, librarian, techmarine, apothocary or chaplain. The four players chose the captain, techmarine, librarian and inquisitor.
It was chaotic and mad fun. To say the least.
I didn't get any photos of the Flames of War games or the Blackpowder game that were run sorry.
Over all a great weekend. Drank copious cups of coffee and tea, the bar down stairs did excellent food at lunch time and ate far too much junk food. I don't think I have laughed quite so much during a game and usually at Tom's exspence of rolling doubles or unable to roll higher than 3 on 2D6. Despite that, my players all said they had a great time and that really is what its all about.
Might try and organise another for the spring!

Space Hulk the RPG
Spacehulk was a game I never really got into when it was first released and second edition came out during my gap in war gaming. But when third edition arrived, I picked up a few sets. The board pieces were very nicely made and figures very detailed. Having played the campaign and enjoyed the game for what it is, a simple and yet very tactical game with a great sense of tension at times, I felt the full potential of the sets was not used, in the standard game.
So… out came some paper and some pencils and a few scribbles and discussions with a friend, and whalla.. Spacehulk the RPG was borne. Firstly its not a full RPG, its just a simple system allowing players to play one or more marines, with multi-hit points, armour and play in a more roleplaying style. Rather than one hit, your dead, as in the basic game which is fun. However, my adaption allows for multiple players to either play multi squads or play multiple character from one squad..

The basic premise was to firstly expand the current range of bad guys, from the genestealers and broodlord, to include Warriors, Zoanthrope, Ripper Swarms, Raveners, Small Carnifex and the big daddy of the lot, the hivetyrant.
To balance out the new threats, the aim is to include rules for Standard Marines, Terminator Chaplains, Terminator Apothocaries, Terminator Captains, Techmarines, Inquisitors and Sentry Gun Drones.

The first few play tests have gone well and though we are still working on some game balancing, the basic principles are there and giving fun and interesting games. I hope to release the final version as a free pdf, so others can enjoy it. Though we have only used this with 3rd edition game, it should work with 1st or 2nd.
I will explain more as it comes along.. watch this space!
